Dear Small things?

What are you?

Why do you catch me so?

With Beauty and admiration in tiny trinkets and precious objects. A small leaf, a stone, a pressed flower, in you I see fragility, the ‘easy demolishing’ this life produces, the throw away attitude and the mighty roar of the big things.

Small things make me stop and take time as I place them in my hand and feel their vulnerability in connection with mine in this world. They are small and beautiful in my hands; I am small and beautiful in Gods.

The world applauds bigness, largeness and the triumph of grander, I say a quite whisper of ‘thank you’ to the small , the wind blowing of the tree’s, the opportunity of letting someone go in front of me in a queue, the delight of funny shaped clouds.

Small things I don’t appreciate you enough, but I love that you are always there, waiting to surprise me with another gift of your delicate love...

An Unexpected Midnight mission...

I went out Last night, to a few bars and then onto a club, a well known establishment famous for it's music, cheap drinks and fun times.

At about 2.30 this morning as me and a friend were on the dance floor shaking our groove thing, I suddenly felt a sense of God saying your ' time to go' , but pushed it aside and kept on dancing, until my friend said she also felt God was telling her it was time to leave, as most people know, one of the adorable qualities (some people would say annoying, but I feel they are wrong) about me is that it's quite hard to make me leave a dance floor when I am having a good time. Anyway as we were both feeling this God twinge, we said If the next song that came on was rubbish we would leave, a random song that I have never heard of before came on, which had something like' leave this club' in the chorus, me and my mate guessed that was our que to stop, listen to god and go through the exit.

Once stepping outside into the bitter night, we decieded to just walk around and see where God led us, we prayed a litttle prayer (mine was espically for warmth) and we headed off in any direction. As soon as we got into Coventry centre where all the shops are, we immediately came across 2 lads peeing onto a shop window, as soon as they saw us, they started the usual array of pick up lines, to try and see if we would bite.

After realising this wasnt going to happen, we stated chatting to themand came onto te subject of God, this came about by one of the lads tattoos he had, a 'she' devil and a cross and rosary beads, and his kids names. We got to chat as we walked, about his jail time, about his most imporatant role ever as a loving dad to his kids, and share abit of my story. I said we would pray for him, he said we had made, not his day but his week, he didnt believe that God could love him as he was a pure chav and loved being one, but I told him God could'nt give a rats arse about his chav ness, but saw his heart loved him no matter what. Its was an amazing 15 minute chat, a real gift from God, and as we said our goodbyes, they yelled at us down the road. God Bless you....Fun times.

We trottered off then, to see if we could come across any homless people sleeping rough, as we felt thats what God was leading us to. We walked around Cov for a good 20 mintues in our short skirt's and silly shoes freezing but trying to keep our eyes peeled.

As we came to one of the big churches in Cov we saw a black lump lying in the doorway of the church, and decided to go over. We went over, apologised for waking him up, but he said he wasnt sleeping and we got chatting, about him, his circumstances, what he needs most, and where his regular sleeping spots are. We had a good time, getting to know him and at the end asked if we could pray for him, which he was happy to have.

The guy must have thought we were strange, 2 girls all dolled up walking around the city at 3.00 am looking and being led by God, but he was happy to chat. I remeber us declaring his is valued, and he should never thnk other wise.

Once prayed for we left him some money and said we would definately be trying to find him again in the next few weeks, as we left him I remeber him yelling ' God bless you' (2nd of the night for us) and we were like no mate 'God bless you'. It was such a beautifull and arranged experience by God it made my week.

As we got into the cab, we both realised we didnt have enough money to get home as we gave it all to the homeless guy, we searched and searhed to no avail, we said a small prayer to God and lo and behold My friend found a random 10 pound note in the bottom of her bag. How good is God!

As I got into bed last night with my clean socks and lavender smelling duvet. I thought, ' its not fair' there are so many houses in this coutry, how can there not be room for him. Even now I am thinkng of him. What is he doing with his sunday? Has he eaten? Will he be there again tonight with his shelter of stone and only grave stones for company ?

I dont understand, and I know people will say we shouldnt give him money (he will just spend it on drugs! Does God ask you to give your coat away only when you know where it is going too, I think not!) Or we were irresposible to walk around town, very late at night, 2 young girls looking vunerable, my response to them is ' did Paul and Peter and the disciple crew only do stuff when it was safe, I dont think so!!!

We have made a decision, to go out armed with sandwiches and hot tea next week and few cheap blankets, ( also I will be wearing a hoodie and winter boots, gloves, scarf, long johns etc etc ) and try and carry on our midnight mission. Its crazy he is sleeping in the doorway of a huge empty building with a roof that gives shelter from storms (its other name a church) but cant get it because the doors are locked. I wonder what would Jesus would think?! Now that is interesting!

Here's to another Saturday Night like this!

The DAZL Diamonds - Boy Cheerleaders!!

I was on the BBC Iplayer website and came across this documentary, which is part of the Wonderland Documentary series which are is on BBC 2 on Wednesdays. Its basically about the effects positive influences can have on young people, and you see the way in which lives can be changed through people investing in the potential of other's or the programme website says

'On a South Leeds estate in the heart of Rugby League territory, a group of nine young boys are preparing for competition. But they are not taking on Bradford Northern or Hull Kingston Rovers. This is a documentary about Britain's leading all-boys cheerleading team - the DAZL Diamonds and their coach Ian Rodley.

Director James Newton follows the team and their families as the boys fluff up their pom poms and prepare for the National Championships in Coventry, where they hope to be the first boys team to lift the trophy - a win which could change their lives forever. '

Above is the clip of 2 parts, which were class, but there was also a really good bit when, a mum said of boys 'they can either get it spot on or be a bag of shite' Brilliant real drama.

I would recomendit, if you can, watching the whole thing on the BBC I Player. It was Good Tv for a change..

Read about Lucian

There is a new book out, ( well actually it may not be that new, but I have just found it, so its new to me) about one of my favourite English Eccentric Painters Mr Lucian Freud. I find him like all true artists should be like, bizarre, unworldly and rather outside of the establishment. In any pictures of him he is always skinny and scowling.

In the book 'MAN WITH A BLUE SCARF' you hear the experience that Martin Gayford (the author, an art critic) went through sitting for a portrait for the artist. In this time the pair share stories and Martin is let abit into lucian's mind and its a diary of the many months of one man sitting another man painting and the conversation that are born.
I love his work, you look at Lucian's Paintings and see that it is so much more than capturing what the person looks like, you get their scar's, their mood, even their vibe coming through the paint and I love it.

Lucian is a legend and I can't wait to read the book.

A Tourist in a Waking world...

At the moment I can't seem to get the lyrics from Florence and Machine song 'Blinding' out of my head, It is such a hauntingly beautifull song, watch it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz7NNZ3Q6fM

'Seems that I have been held, in some dreaming state
A tourist in the waking world, never quite awake
No kiss, no gentle word could wake me from this slumber
Until I realise that it was you who held me under

Felt it in my fist, in my feet, in the hollows of my eyelids
Shaking through my skull, through my spine and down through my ribs

No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world'

Johnny Depp thrills in school mutiny

Johnny Depp is a legend, look what he did...

Hollywood star Johnny Depp has made an unannounced visit to a London primary school after receiving a letter from one of its pupils.

The actor turned up at the school in Greenwich, south-east London, dressed as his Pirates of the Caribbean alter-ego Captain Jack Sparrow.

He said nine-year-old Beatrice had written to Captain Jack, asking him to lead a mutiny against her teachers.

Depp, 47, has been filming the latest instalment of the franchise in London.

After his arrival, a special school assembly was called and the film star - along with other members of the cast dressed in full costume - walked in.

Depp produced Beatrice's letter and performed for the children for 15 minutes.

But he told the schoolgirl that a mutiny might get them into trouble.

Do You Want this ?

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me".

Where's my Respect ?

I Was reading a commentary this morning by Chuck Smith to do with Romans 3 , how mad is this below:

'They kept those oracles faithfully, recorded them faithfully and passed them on to us. They had such a high reverence for the name of God, that whenever they wrote the word God, the Elohim, or the El, they would wash their pens, wash their hands, and then dip the pen in fresh ink to write the word Elohim, so did they reverence the title of God. But when they wrote the consonants that represented the name of God in writing, the consonants, before they would write them, they would go in and take a bath, change their clothes, and then take a pen, dip it in fresh ink, and write the consonants, YHVH, those consonants that represented the name of God.

There was no vowels written on these consonants because they did not feel that a man even in his mind was worthy of pronouncing the holy name of God. So they took the copying of scripture as a sacred trust. They realized the advantage that was theirs in having the Word of God given to them. Unto them was given the oracles of God. They were committed to them.'

That is some serious respect for God and his word, I would never think of having a bath to be clean, before I write down the name of God on a piece of paper, Or even needing a New Pen.
Sometimes I forget that I worship the mega creator of this universe, who spoke Thunderstorms, Ocean's and the Grand Canyon into being. And I am aware that I totally don't give him the awesome Respect he deserve's ...

I Love God, and I am so thankful that he loves me and my small worship and flittering heart... Teach me lord to give you the respect you deserve...

Amen to that...
